UGUIDE Hunting Policies
Hunting Ethics
Fair Chase Policy
UGUIDE only hunts wild, naturally raised South Dakota pheasants. No pen-raised or released birds are used. Hunting results depend on dog quality, shooting ability, weather, and field conditions. Bag limits are not guaranteed.
Dog Requirements
Upland Bird Dog Policy
Every hunting group must have at least one upland bird dog. The number and quality of the dogs will greatly affect the hunting experience.
Group Size
Minimum Group Size Policy
Minimum group size varies by camp and hunting week. Please check each Camp page for its specific minimum requirements.
View Camps →Licensing
South Dakota Hunting License
All hunters must possess a valid South Dakota non-resident hunting license before arriving at camp. Licenses are the sole responsibility of the hunter and are not included in the package price.

- 50% deposit required after May 1.
- 100% payment required for bookings after September 1.

Safety
Hunter Safety & Orange Requirements
Wearing blaze orange or blaze pink clothing is strongly recommended for safety. Bright colors help hunters remain visible to others while walking through tall grass and brush.
Conduct
Property & Conduct Policy
Hunters are guests on private property. Fences, gates, crops, and livestock must be respected at all times. Alcohol in the field is prohibited. Violations of conduct or safety rules may result in immediate removal without refund.
